Turmeric cures Bowel Cancer

turmeric

Turmeric is a herb of ginger family used as a spice in Curry mostly in South East Asian countries. It is also known as yellow ginger which is used for cooking to give a color and flavour in the food. But now it is more than a color and flavour, it is a medicine for Bowel Cancer.

In 2009, a team at the Cork Cancer Research Centre showed it can destroy gullet cancer cells in the lab. Dr Sharon McKenna and her team found that curcumin started to kill cancer cells within 24 hours.

Curcumin, which is found in the spice turmeric, has been linked to a range of health benefits. Some of the hospitals are investigating giving curcumin alongside chemotherapy drugs to patients. However, if the cancer has spread to other organs, it is difficult to give a treatment.

I want to study not a surgery – By Pradip Rai

surgery

One weekend, I went to temple near village where I work. On my way back from the temple down the stairs, I came across a young boy crawling up. He was using his bamboo stick for his support and trying his best to climb up to the temple. I could tell, it was very difficult for him to climb up but he continued.

Since I am a physiotherapist and I work in NGO, I and my team have been helping many disable villagers. I wondered if he knew about HDC (Hope Disability Centre) and our service so I stopped him for a quick chat.

Is It Safe When Doctors Have AIDS?

HIV ribbon

AIDS is a disease of the human immune system caused by the HIV. HIV is transmitted mainly by sexual intercourse and blood transfusion. It can be transmitted in different types of bodily fluid.

Should doctors continue working after being diagnose of carrying AIDS? In fact it is very rare to transmit AIDS during doctoring when blades are not involved. The possibility of transmitting is as low as diabetes.

AIDS is not an incurable disease anymore, taking medicines can control it, and it does not make a big difference from everyone else. However there is still a number of doctors suicide when they found out that they have AIDS. Is it the education or the society that should deliver a more proper message, not to discriminate or exaggerate AIDS or any other disease? Everyone can be sick, but not everyone is contagious, nor did bad things in their pasts.

We should try to accept everyone and appreciate his or her contribution to the society rather than criticize. We should embrace everyone. We should let doctors do their job.

Toothache and Treatment - Shechu Rai

What is toothache and why do you have pain?
There are many reasons for tooth pain but above all tooth decay (Dental Caries) is the main reason. Tooth decay is the destruction of tooth structure. It can affect both the enamel(the outer coating of the tooth) and the dentin(the inner layer of the tooth) Tooth decay occurs when food containing carbohydrates( Sugar and starches) such as breads, cereals, milk, soda, fruits, cakes or candy are left on the teeth. Bacteria that live in the mouth digest these foods turning them into acids. The bacteria, acid, food debris and saliva combine to form plaque which clings to the teeth. The acid in the plaque dissolves the enamel surface of the teeth, creating holes in the teeth called caries.

Should we brush our teeth right after meal?

We have always been told to brush our teeth after eating, however acidic food like fruits, soft drinks, wine or juice will soften your enamel.
If you brush your teeth right after consuming acidic food, you are actually damaging the soften enamel.

Solution:
1. Brush your teeth 30mins after having acidic food.
2. Rinse your mouth before you brush your teeth.
3. Chew sugar-free gum to produce more saliva to protect your teeth.
4. Have some cheese for your teeth to absorb some calcium.
